Mission
To identify individual objects in production processes, RFID technologies have been used since the 1960s. An RFID system generally consists of a transponder attached to or embedded in an object, plus an RFID reader for contactless reading, writing, and updating of transponder data.
This enables automated identification of workpieces and optimized process flow. In assembly line production, item-specific information must be written to each RFID transponder, for example ID numbers, torque values, temperatures, or other production parameters.
Challenge
In day-to-day operations, production can slow down when faulty data is written to RFID transponders. Restoring a smooth process previously required specialists to manually correct defective data records. This manual overwriting process was cumbersome, time-consuming, error-prone, and required deep hardware-oriented IT knowledge.
Solution
For automation specialist Balluff GmbH, MWAY DIGITAL developed a mobile app that allows users to read and correct RFID transponder data quickly and conveniently. The app runs on RFID handheld devices and enables production teams to fix faulty data efficiently and with minimal effort.
Alongside stability and performance, strong focus was placed on simple, user-friendly operation without limiting flexibility.
